How V12 Retail Finance Will Use your Personal Information


In assessing your application we will search our own files and those of one or more credit reference agencies (CRAs) this will supply us with credit and identity information as well as information from the electoral register. When the CRAs receive a search from us they will place a search footprint on your credit file that may be seen by other lenders, regardless of whether or not your application proceeds. We will make checks such as; assessing this application for credit and verifying identities to prevent and detect crime and money laundering. We may also make periodic searches at CRAs and Fraud Prevention Agencies (FPAs) to manage your account with us. We may use a credit scoring or similar automated technique in deciding whether to accept your application.

We will disclose details about the conduct of your agreement and how you manage it to one or more CRAs, this information may be used by other lenders to assess other credit applications by you. If you have borrowed from us and do not make payments that you owe us, we will trace your whereabouts and recover debts. CRAs will record an outstanding debt and the information may be supplied to other organisations by CRAs and FPAs to perform similar checks and to trace your whereabouts and recover debts that you owe. Records remain on file for 6 years after they are closed, whether settled by you or defaulted.

We and other organisations may access and use from other countries the information recorded by FPAs. Your data may also be used for other purposes for which you give specific permission or, in very limited circumstances, when required by law or where permitted under the terms of the Data Protection act 1998.

If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified, details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies.

Any information submitted to fraud prevention agencies may be accessed and used by law enforcement agencies, us and other organisations to prevent fraud and money laundering, for example, when: Checking details on applications for credit and credit related or other facilities, Managing credit and related accounts or facilities, Recovering debt, Checking details on proposals and claims for types of insurance, Checking details of job applicants and employees

Before entering into the agreement we may search records at Credit Reference Agencies which may be linked to records relating to your partner or other member of your household. For the purpose of any application or this application you may be treated as financially linked and you will be assessed with reference to ‘associated’ records.

Where any search or application is completed or agreement entered into involving joint parties you both consent to us recording details at CRAs and as a result an "association" will be created which will link your financial records. Your associate’s information may be taken into account when a future search is made by us or any other lender unless you file a "disassociation" at the credit reference agencies.


By submitting your application we will use the information provided in this application to introduce you to consumer finance facilities of V12 Personal Finance Limited, and to administer this application on the behalf. Should you not complete and submit your application we will retain your information for auditing purposes only, though we may contact you by Email to advise you that your application is not fully completed. Before your personal information is transmitted it is securely encrypted using 128bit encryption.

Should your retail finance application with V12 Personal Finance Limited be unsuccessful, we may pass your application details to an alternative finance provider in order to fulfil your lending requirement. You will be notified of the name of the particular finance provider upon referral of your application to them.

The alternative finance provider will also undertake a credit reference search. The explanation about credit searches and fraud prevention searches contained in the section below entitled How V12 Personal Finance Limited will use your Personal Information, also applies to your application to the alternative finance provider.

Who can Apply?

You must be over 18 and cannot be unemployed.
Being a Homemaker or self-employed is within acceptable criteria.
You should have a good credit history.

You are a permanent UK resident and have a three year UK address history. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee acceptance and is subject to credit status. You must have a valid credit or debit card that is registered to the applicants address for the deposit.
